ZLI’s Healthy Glow Campaign™ addresses reproductive health, by supporting applied photobiology research that studies specific light conditions across the breeding cycle of different shark species. Natural light cycles, whether daily, monthly or seasonal, have a great impact on hormone cycling and so, reproductive success. ZLI’s Healthy Glow Campaign™ pursues program goals and partners directly aligned with medical and physical well being.
ZLI’s Healthy Glow Campaign™ supports research in (all) animal reproductive photobiology with the intent of improving animal care and encouraging physical conditions necessary for breeding, growth, reproduction, and gestation. Despite appearances, sharks serve as an ambassador due to their sensitive endocrine systems, the subtle variations of light under the sea, and as symbolic of virility (a perception that all they do is swim, eat, and make baby sharks).
