Adaptation™ seeks to combat anti-Asian hate, as it supports the scientific research of whale and dolphins. Anti-Asian hate has plagued cetology for over a century, with AAPI individuals suffering demonstrable stigmatization and violence. ZLI takes the adaptability of cetacean photobiology as its inspiration, to pursue this unique but much needed Campaign. Scientific research aids animals in the wild, and also improve welfare in aquariums, sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers.
The Campaign celebrates the complexity of human relationships with whales and dolphins, pursuing a much needed diversity, engagement and inclusion approach. Beached provides a platform for dialogue regarding the scientific understanding of whales and dolphins, informed rather than hindered by the great cultural diversity of people working with them.
Adaptation™ supports cetacean photobiology across the ZLI Framework categories. It is our intent to fund ZLI Endowments with this in mind, and to create dedicated PhotoDiversity Media. The latter serves as a science educational tool, a funding stream, as well as an audience building program for the ZLI Mission.
